Martha’s Vineyard cannabis operator Fine Fettle poised for sale

Massachusetts-based Black Harbor Group is positioned to purchase Fine Fettle, a licensed cannabis cultivator and manufacturer located on Martha’s Vineyard in West Tisbury, Massachusetts.

The Select Board of West Tisbury unanimously approved the change of ownership for Fine Fettle, which earlier this year announced it would permanently close “no later than September,” according to the Vineyard Gazette.

The Select Board of West Tisbury agreed to the transfer of ownership with the stipulation that Fine Fettle address lighting concerns within six months, the Gazette reported.

Black Harbor Group, which was represented by an attorney at the Select Board meeting, was registered as a limited liability company in July, according to public records.

Fine Fettle’s closure earlier this year prompted a lawsuit that led the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission (CCC) to issue an administrative order stating that regulated marijuana products could be delivered to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket via state waterways.

The popular vacation destinations are accessible only via ferry or plane, which had posed inventory challenges for licensed retailers.

Geoff Rose, owner of Martha’s Vineyard cannabis retailer Island Time, told MJBizDaily he was forced to close the store this spring, when Fine Fettle phased out marijuana cultivation, and he was left with no other option to acquire products for his island-based store.

Island Time and Nantucket-based Green Lady Dispensary filed a lawsuit against the CCC.

But the store owners dropped the suit when the regulator issued an administrative order permitting the transport of regulated marijuana through state waterways.

“There were clearly some limitations in terms of products that could be produced here on the island,” Rose told MJBizDaily in June.
